Roger was born in Buffalo, NY, USA but spent his growing up
years on the Six Nations Reserve in Southern Ontario. (He is
from the Seneca tribe of the Six Nations Indians.)  He lived
there with his mom & dad,  five brothers & two sisters.

It was not until Roger was twelve years old that he heard about
Jesus,  and at that time gave his life to the Lord.

His whole family came to know the Lord,  and after that the
original Singing Hills Ministry began!   They all travelled on the
weekends singing in various churches. (10 little Indians!)  The
original Singing Hills travelled singing for 15 years.

It was during one of these singings that Roger & Patti's paths
crossed.  Roger was on stage singing & to this day Patti says
"he winked at me from the stage!" With a shy smile, Roger says
"I had something in my eye!"

In the course of time Roger pursued a career as a School Teacher.
(Knowing in his heart that God wanted him to go to Bible School,
but fighting against that commitment.)  He began teaching, and
found himself discontent.

Finally after years of struggling to find his peace, Roger decided
to pack his wife, 4 daughters, and several hundred tropical birds,
& move from Southern Ontario to the Prairies! (The tropical birds
are a whole different story!)

It was the early 80's......

Briercrest Bible College at Caronport, SK has never been the same
since the Hill's landed in their smoking, lime green milk truck!  The
Indian's had arrived!!
In Bible school,  Christian service was required,  so Roger & Patti
would take their 4 girls to the Nursing Homes to sing for the
elderly.  During that time someone heard these 4 little ones &
invited the family to sing at a conference.  It was agreed that the
family would do this.

What a shock for the Hill's to go from singing at Nursing Homes,
to standing before 4,000 people at a conference!  They had not
planned on being a singing family,   but from the one engagement,
they had 5 years worth of bookings!

From that one weekend the Singing Hills ministry was born,  and
over 25 years later is still strong today!
